Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says that women need to negotiate to get what they want and deserve and advises women to “Lean In” to advance in life. Whether day-to-day negotiations with friends and family or complex professional negotiations, the outcome of a negotiation can change your life. Learn negotiation steps and techniques from Dr. Lois Phillips in a lively one-day workshop.
PANEL OF EXPERTS: Attorney and Mediator Louise La Mothe and Judy Guillermo Newton, Senior Vice President of Montecito Bank & Trust will join Instructor and Moderator Lois Phillips to discuss how they prep for various types of negotiations and “lessons learned.”
CONTENT: Research from Professor Deborah Kolb at Harvard and Authors Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever will be presented in brief lectures and role play exercises to help women learn steps, “moves” and “turns.” The class will view and analyze a Role Play Case Study produced by Harvard’s Negotiation Project depicting a woman and her boss negotiating a career promotion she wants. Each person will leave with a personal action plan for how to continue to develop strength as a negotiator.
